I've seen Japanese people eating Western and Italian food with chopsticks several times. I do it too!
I guess it's because we don't want our hands to get dirty when we're eating? I don't know..but it's much easier for me to eat pasta with my awesome chopsticks than using a fork.
Heck, I once picked up a nasty bug with my chopsticks.
Why didn't I use tissue to pick up the bug?
Heck no! I don't want to feel that tingly bug feet through the tissue! I'd rather squeeze it dead with my fantastic chopsticks. That way, I don't feel it, and I can still pick it up and throw it away. (and also throw the chopsticks away..but these minor details aren't important..)
Therefore, chopsticks are awwwshum and we use it for everything.
